Hi i am looking to dual boot my shuttle. Its already got redhat installed on an 80gig drive. I want to install windows 2k on a separate hard disk (just a really small one) Can anyone give me any pointers? All i have found is how to install linux on top of XP etc. How can i choose which hard disk to boot?

    Any help appreciated

    Thanks

Which hard drive to boot from can be selected in the BIOS.

Although I have never used it, I have been told that Partition Magic makes this easy!!!

I have this friend, who knows someone (just kidding...) who set up a dual boot almost exactly as you describe.

I recommend using LILO. You just write a few lines in the lilo configuration file telling it what boot options you want and then select from a menu what you want to boot each time the system boots. Just search on google or look for the LILO HOWTO on tldp.org.

u should be able to installwin 2k or what ever, and then itll come up as an option during startup.

Or at least thats what happened when i installed xp with mandrake on a dual boot.

defo make sure its either on a different partition or a different drive tho.

Rather than lilo Id suggest grub - it achieves the same but is much more flexible, and a godsend in emergencies thanks to the ability to change its config without an OS.
