I have just got a 2nd TFT for my ibook, im using the hack so I have an expanded desktop and that works great. The problem Im having is that I cant get any of the games I have to work with both screens (say one to look behind or just a wider fov). The games I have are halo, Unreal tournament (original) and Quake3. Do any of these even support dual displays? I cant find any documentation online or any settings in the games.

Well. Its pretty obvious that you can't have a screen looking behind you. Especially in Multiplayer games as it would be a very unfair advantage to have. The same for a wider view.. it would be a big advantage. So I don't believe there are FPS games out there, that support an extended desktop. Even widescreen is mostly not supported.

Sorry but I don't think there is any way you can use bouth monitors for gaming.. (showing something different, offcourse).

Good luck and let us know if you would google into something...
    Good Luck

you can do it with both quake3 and unreal tournament
with quake you have to edit a config file and add a custom widescreen resolution
    not sure about ut though

There are lots of games which support multi-monitors, I was fairly sure quake3 did but I cant find out how to enable it. As I remember (back in my windows days) you could either set it to be looking behind you or as a wider fov.

Most newer FPS games support dual+ monitors.

    You sure?
Wouldn't that be a very very very unfair advantage in quake MP ?? You can see if somebody is behind you...

I do know that there are games that support Widescreen! Then u have a wider viewing angle. But I'm not sure about mutiple monitors. Have you tried googling for it? If its possible then there must be a few sites about it..

Good luck and keep us posted.

I have done it on halo, you have to add "console.exe" to the root file or something but it isnt worth it, there is tons of lag and the graphics are poor.

I take it that is on windows? I want to get the mac versions of the game working (hence posting in the apple forum :thumb: )

As for games that support multi-monitor gaming, there is a list here; http://www.matrox.com/mga/3d_gaming/surrgame.cfm

As you can see there are lots of FPS in that list, and I doubt its that up to date ;) I just cant see how to make it work in the osx version.

it runs ok on an ibook (at 800x600 res :( ), i imagine it would be very nice on a more powerful desktop with details turned up!
