Not really, not without going into driver files and manually editing them, or flashing the card with the same BIOS.

I would install one card in each PCI-e slot and see if you get a display. This will narrow down whether it's the PCI-e Slot or the card. :)

I have checked the PCI-E slots and no obvious issues.

    This just getting weird.

Placed card in slot 1 installed driver.
    Removed card.
Placed card in secondary slot, and the monitor showed desktop but with default settings. installed driver.
Replaced top card, SLI bridge, moved main cable back to top card. Plugged in secondary monitor, powered up PC. Which booted but to basic monitor settings, reinstalled driver.
    Bingo we have SLI.
    I have no idea why?
Moved the main monitor connection back to

Strange, very strange indeed! it's got to be hardware related.

Well try the other mobo, and see if everything installs straight away. If it doesn't, then there has to be a problem with one of the cards.

I am just going to set up this clean install with my usual bits and bobs then tomorrow, if time allows, move to the V Gene.

Thanks for all your help, and to all others of course. Much appreciated.

    No worries. ;)

He's using a Silverstone Strider 600W, which is borderline for his config, but it will run it, as they can run well over that. My 1KW will hold 1200W fine. :)

Bit close to the limit depending on what else he's running but should do it

I actually had a thread up about this very subject quite recently Tel and the consensus was that I would/should be fine. Though in the next round of upgrades I might well up the PSU wattage.

TBH mate people said mine was OTT but years later and it's running quad sli without even getting warm might cost more to buy but only uses the power needed to run the rig

Just checking Kronos, you do have the second GTX 670 installed in the very bottom PCI-E slot on that Gigabyte motherboard?

Certainly did mate. Again this was another subject I had a thread about as I am a noobie to SLI.

It's not power related unless your running massive overclocks as my 2 680 based system only draws 480 watts from the wall when doing furmark its under 400 in most games.

Sounds like one of the cards if its not the slots.

In SLI configs the fastest card will downclock to the slowest one by default.

Cheers mate, all seems fine after a long overdue reinstall of Windows. I have ordered a power meter thingys to get a better idea of draw before deciding whether to upgrade my PSU.

I've been meaning to do this for a while and seeing these posts gave me the motivation to check what the power draws are of my sig rig - maybe it will help you with your decisions... I used Prime95 to get 100% CPU usage across all cores and Furmark to give 100% GPU usage across both GPUs - results:

    Idle - 100W
    100% CPU only (just Prime95) - 230W
    100% GPU only (just Furmark) - 670W
    100% CPU and 100% GPU (Prime 95 and Furmark) - 760W

My PSU is rated for about 90% efficiency so my rig must have been using about 690W out of the 760W.

Looking at the reviews of my setup and yours I would estimate that each of your cards probably uses about 100W less than mine and your CPU maybe uses about the same (depending on the voltages you're using for your OC that is). So I would estimate that your rig probably needs about 500W which would require a PSU to draw ~560W at 90% efficiency or ~590W at 85% efficiency. Looking at the reviews on jonnyguru it would seem that your PSU should be fine to hit 85% efficiency or above and that it should also be fine to supply over 600W (closer to 700W for the ST60F-SG) so I would think you'd be fine with your current PSU :thumb:

Tl;dr - I think your PSU is fine as, even in a worst case scenario, your rig probably uses less than 600W of power :)

Seriously? What's it been since last time - 24 hours? Lets spell it out

    ON TOPIC

Either you're helping Kronos diagnose his issue (which clearly is not temperature related) or you're off topic. End of.

Edit: Ah, deleting posts soothes me. Let's not have this again chaps / chapettes / whatever. Ta.
