Hi Retro, I have just completed the first stage of building a "folding" computer, like you I have used the v2100 plus II case, and the Mobo is the MSI 790FX-GD70, at present the CPU is an X3 720 but this will be upgraded later(AMD caught me out on the 955 i was not expecting it so early) the PSU is a Corsair HX1000 modular. Memory is 4GB of DDR3 1600 and video is the GTX 275 I only intend to fit 2 more later.HDD is 2 x 500GB. The case is heavily modded, the first thing was to reverse the door to put the ancilliary sockets at the top instead of the bottom then i emptied all the PSU area and fitted an EX23A Hdd carrier in place of the bottom 2 51/4 Spaces, I cut 2 120mm fan holes in the rear of the top and fitted 2 fans(this was to enable water cooling later, likewise, were you have removed the Wheels, which I have not,I have cut 3 Holes for another WC radiator. However I an very interested in your comments re Phase cooling and will watch this space to fit the PSU I reversed the carrier and modded it slightly:rock::rock:

I've got the Aplus variant of this and they look almost exactly the same apart from the front. (I was thinking of fitting an Xbox 360 in the bottom of mine which shows how large these things are but your idea is much better)

I personally chose this Mobo after reading several reviews, there is a review on this Forum http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/motherboards/2009/05/04/msi-790fx-gd70/2

I like it, and what pleased me was that I put all the PC together and switched on, it said No operating system !! but of course I had not put one in at that point, so I installed Vista 64 and then installed Folding and its been doing that non-stop since in the chimp Challenge, as soon as this finishes I will update the bios and the driver for the 275, Sorry, whilst I have taken many pics i have not yet opened an upload client and do not have a Log

PS. as soon as I see you on this Thread I will Paste pictures in my Album and they will show up as the latest pictures, thats the best i can do at the Present

I have ordered my MSI Eclipse Plus. They arent out in the UK yet so doing a Pilsner and getting it imported from germany ;) It works out cheaper anyway :D

Its only the motherboard I need now before i can start doing cable mangement cuts etc. and then I'll of course have to insulate it and get the phase unit built :D

    I cant wait!

I'm hoping the release of the i5's will drag down the i7 prices a little bit.

Just waiting for the Eclipse Plus now, should be here in a day or two, then i can get started properly.

First thing im gonna do is cable management cuts etc. on the mobo tray and if possible a dual rad cutout in the top. Do we all reckon a PA120.2 will cool those two GX2's well enough?

I might lap the processor too if i have the cojhones ;) oh by the way, @ The Boy and Dont Fear, try the FS sections on forums, you can get some mega bargains ;) thats the only way i could afford going i7 tbh.

I think ive decided to have black internals, with white exterior powdercoating with blue themed hardware and cooling. should look sick :D:D:D

stay tuned and thanks for watching ;)

    Nick
