I'm having a couple of technical issues with my dual screens. I have a TFT plugged into my laptop's VGA port which I use as a secondary monitor but over the past couple of days it's decided that only the TFT can act as the primary monitor. Every time I try to set the laptop screen as the primary monitor it just disables the laptop's screen altogether.

Also, the monitor's locations relative to one another keep changing (i.e. swapping sides), so I have to go to display properties and change the locations back to my preferences every time I turn the computer on.

    Can anyone help here please?

Do you have ati catalyst installed? If so check there it has a nasty habit of overriding settings.

I'm not using ATI graphics, it's an Intel chipset :) Sorry should have mentioned this before.

right clock on desktop>properties>settings>advanced then go to the displays tab. I have spent ages trying to get some screens to work, only to find I have to double click on them there. (this is on my kaptop with a 9700)

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers and stuff like that? A long shot, but it might help...

I had a similar thing at work. There's the normal advanced display properties section, which I guess is where you're working from. There's a special Intel one somewhere (I think it's in the right-click desktop menu somewhere, though I'm sure you can get at it in several ways) where if you set the settings from there, it seems to happily keep them.
