Yeah very nice building indeed! Did you go up it? Shame that you can walk about 10 mins (if you can stand the heat) and theres people living in tin sheds something isn't right about that!
We all know that CK is far too nice to do anything even nearly as bad as that It is possible that the bubble won't burst when the oil runs out, as the oil isn't the main driving force, just a smaller contributor! The main reason for the boom in dubai is that it's a tax free haven - if this law were to change however... then i dunno what but the word corruption would probably be given a new meaning
I'm torn between explaining this one to you, and simply shaking my head in exasperation that I'd even need to...
To be perfectly frank, if i could afford it, i would move there. No point in pretending i cant be corrupted by money and fun stuff. Heck, if someone payed me 150 bucks a month to not recycle, i would do it...
I'll do one better for you mate, seems someone uploaded it on to YouTube. It was "Big, Bigger, Biggest" on Channel Five. 5 parts... starting with this one CLICK
Just WOW and thank you alot. I love this kind of series, Thank you alot. I don't know any info about Dubai really. I can't just go around and look. But I know that There are whores and Drugs and alcohol all over the place. Dubai don't use Oil that much, they used it to go up. But now they use business and deals with the non Arab people. If you go DUBAI You can't find one Arab person to talk with, All people are from America or Euro or Asia.
No, their tax revenues do. But their economy is another matter. I've seen what happens to places that invest solely in tourism. At some point the glamour wears off and people pick somewhere else for their summer holiday. They are booming because they have a lot of oil magnates attracting services and industry that attract more rich people from abroad. But when the wells run dry, so does the customer base for an economy that is geared purely around catering to the wealthy.
Yes I was their as a guest of petronas so went right up where the public are not allowed I was there for the GP and Massa was one of their drivers at that time so we had a function at the top to meet their drivers etc It was pretty good week we even had police escourts from airport etc Petronas have huge power and influence in Malaysia Heat is shocking though Yes about 6 streets down fronm citi centre you see the poverty but its hidden in a way that on a tour it all looks great but when you walk the streets you see the real KL I loved all the scooter garages
looking at this string of post's and some of the links has been quite an eye opener My mate just got back and said they have a great little Irish Pub in the airport so I will spend my time there and will try not to invest too heavily in the beer....
I've been to Dubai before, and Oman. They are both great countries very, very hot! i mean 55C hot, every building has AC lol. I went there in 2005 and there wasn't half the stuff that there is now, I would love to go there again. I remember there were these hotel or apartment complexes i dont know which but they were called Goldensand and Silversand's and there was like 30 or more of them located around the city, you would have Goldensand's 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on dotted around the place it made me laugh obviously some guy is very rich from it all. Lovely food, i had nothing but curry's, imagine a burger van you get at a festival well they have curry van's with the best curry's in the world!
culley this weekend I wish I could be at Kingsholm to watch the Glos Bath match and I would settle for a good fish and chips after the game
Ahah A Gloucester rugby fan, what the one next door to the jockey there's a tasty fish n chips shop now eh?
Yes Gloucester born and bred played all my school boy Rugby there used to play for Lydney. Left for SA just before I turned 18 many many years ago. Still got all my family there my Dad and brother are permanent fixtures in the Shed (although tickets are getting harder to come by) Last time I was there I went to the one in I think Hare lane called ye olde fish and chipee it has the little area upstairs where you can sit and have a beer with it. Hope they get the win this weekend as Bath are a bit of a jinx for us.
