Acutally most of my newer drives don't have that. Not sure about his though.

As ghetto as it should seem, it looks surprisingly not ghetto. It came out quite a bit better than my homemade case that wasn't meant to look ghetto at all but did (decent from a distance, but then again I didn't put much effort into it as it was a school project :naughty: )

haha i wanna make a case out of a box, except i wanna make a full tower, but they dont really make full tower sized boxes so id end up having a giant box the size of a 48inch tv or somethin lol

Would the box be strong enough if i was to cut each side out and then duct tape, maybe renforce the sides with some plating stuff they use in the corners of walls?

and the mobo is mounted on a piece of wood right? how are your temps?

haha if i were to make one i wouldnt have any real window, just a hole in in the side with no acrylic or anything

If you were to cut out both sides, I would suggest getting some wood rods (sticks... whatever) and using them as supports. The duct tape itself isn't very strong, but it will keep everything together if it breaks.

As for the temps, I have been unable to get a OS to install seeing as the hard drive is b0rked and thus I can't tell what temps I have, cause I can't stress test. I remember exactly why I had a spare hard drive lying around... the bloody thing doesn't work in the first place! I have a few more lying around, so I'll give them a shot later this weekend.

The total project cost, if you exlude the hardware (most of which was just lying around, I only bought the PSU and the motherboard) is quite low.

Fans - $10 from getmods. The other fans were lying around, so I used them.
Duct Tape - $6. I used 2 rolls, and they go for $3 each at home depot.
Cardboard box - Free, we had just moved house, so I had tons around.
Acrylic - $4 at home depot.
Wood for the MB tray - $2 (iirc).

Total - $22 (US dollars btw)

Absolutely love the mod. The best part would have to be the CD face. Who would have thunk it that the (in theory) cheapest and nastiest mod would look so cool.

    Keep up the good work.

Cardboard+ducktape would allow for any pressure differences to even out.
Is that even a problem in regular use, or is that not what the hole is for?
