Hi, Some may know me from the CIP Apple G5 H20, but that didn't turn out the way I wanted it, so I've started something completely new, based on the well known case, the Cosmos 1000.

I had the chance to buy it cheap from coolermaster themself for €79,95!
For the people looking for it, here is a direct link.

Okay, time for some pictures from the arrival (the quality of the pictures isn't to good, but my LG broke down a few months ago and I bought myselfs an Iphone 3G):

    Mhm, what's in this?
Oh, it's the Aluminium Stacker mousepad I'd ordered :D
    [IMG]

    Another thingy?
Hey, that's the front of an HAF 932 :thumb:

Some working and brainstorming outside, I'm thinking more than once about every step, that was my biggest error with the G5

Okay, enough thinking, less take this baby apart!:
    So, that's that.

First I had to redrill the mounting places of the MB, the thread was rubish, maybe it's that what was wrong with it.
Drilled the thread out and glued the raisers into place.

Now it's time for some real modding :thumb::

First, I drilled the holes for the fill ports:

Then, another hole, what could that be?

    Maybe this helps:

No, now you'll recognise it for sure :
It's an Apple dock :naughty:, still needs some finishing.

    Now, the front:
That's why I ordered a HAF front with it :D

    A mod-family picture:

After this, I'd got the dremel and cut the front, so the HAF front can come through.
No pictures of the cutting, but a finishing picture:

Started the finishing of the Apple dock:
Let that dry for a while.

In the meanwhile, measering a bottom plate to hide the power supply, cables,...

Ah, our old good friend, AC:

    After the cutting:

Hey, the rad need some air to!
No problem, let's fit a nice grill on it.
Drilled the holes and threaded them with M3:

That's all for now, suspect another update tonight or tomorrow!
    :cooldude: greets! :cooldude:

    UPDATE 1:

Here I am again, with some more progress.

First a picture from the Apple dock, sanded and ready for primer, It look a little out of line, but it just great!
You'll see when it'll be primered.

Now some pictures of the plexi plate with the fan, the hole has been cut and I mounted a fan to fit with the radiator.

I also made a small support for the plate, because everywhere there is a tight fit with the case, except here and I just wanted to be sure.

    Some overlook pictures:

Oke, it's time to demolish te G5

Took the juse out of the water circuit.

    Approximately half way here.

    All done :D
    [IMG]

Thanks, I've been thinking about the dock for an very long time, but the G5 wasn't really suited for it.

On the apple dock, perhaps a small slab of something on the rear to support the Ipod? No one wants those jacks to snap of suddenly.

Thanks, hope you'd like the outcome of this.

Could you be a little more precise? You mean to make a support bracket for the back of the Ipod to rest on?

That's not quite necessary, because I have an original apple dock and the dock itself gives enough support on it's own.

    UPDATE 2:

I'm back with some new progress.

Since the last update, I've removed the fittings from the motherboard and the videocard.
    I also took some pictures:
Here you can see that you have to pay attention that you don't you usefittings with a long tapered side, because it pushed against the cooling plate and I cracked the plexi before I new.
I replaced the plexi, so no problem at all, but it's no longer possible to mount on both sides.

I also had to cut the block to fit on the Club3D board.

Closed off the holes, until I can permanently mount it into the case.

Then I mounted it into the case to see if I'd have to change something, measure the lenghts of the PSU cables,...

A little test if the case still closes with al those cables, and it does! But it's close, 2 close.

Next, make 2 80mm holes in the front to get some air to the hard drives.
I wanted to do this from the biginning, but they wore sold out of clock drill in the local hardware stores. But now I have one, so let's get drilling.
    The victim.
    All done, upside down.

After this, I've made some easy cable holes in the mounting plate.

I made one for the ATX-cable, one for the SATA's and the PCI-E and one for the upper 8-pin MB power. Luckelly for me that, with the hole, I don't have to extent the cable, it was an extreme tight fit.

That's it for now, I'm gonna do some small jobs, like primer the Apple dock to find some final finishing point, ...
This until I receive my order, It should arrive this week.

    UPDATE 3: 6 September 2009:

First thing I'd like to tell is that I removed some pictures from the beginning thread, because there wore some pictures witch repeated, that didn't looked good,...

    Ok, now the real update!

I received my package thursdaynoon, a half hour before I had to leave the mathematics class, lucky for me. Some pictures:
    Lot's of protective trash :D
    [IMG]
    This is what remains:

Here is the content + some noctua fans and some cables:

First job, installing the MIPS RAM cooler:

    RAM bars, ready for modification:
    Removing the heat sinks:
    [IMG][IMG]

    Installing the new heat sinks:
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

    That's done, let's make some MB-connections:
    [IMG][IMG]

That's it for now, but now I have 95% of my needed stuff, so I can get this mod in a higher gear.
    Grtz,
    jelle

How hard was it to remove those RAM covers/sinks/cooler (lol, I don't know the right name for them)? I read someplace OCZ RAM can be a bit of a nightmare as they are well stuck to the chips.

Well, at first I was scared to pull the chips out, but I did chip by chip and it went quite easy, the first one sticked very hard, but the other 3 came off quite easily. Lucky me. :D
