I am looking to make a replica of manny calavera's head.

The travel agent of death, from the by now rather ancient Lucasarts classic, Grim Fandango.

The purpose is as a shifter knob, and I personally think it would look awesome in my car. In any case - how should I go about making this thing? Sculpey? plaster and resin casting? wood carving? I am not without skill and/or resources but would simply like to hear from someone who has done some sculpture themselves.

AND not ended up with something which would disintegrate under repeated manhandling :)

    THANKS!

It's not a terribly complex shape. It wouldn't be too hard to carveout of white nylon or white acetal and then apply viny decals or paint for the black.

@ captain slug - thanks - I'll look into those materials... I've never worked with those before!

@ Kobalt - shifter knob sized. About 3-4" tall I guesstimate.

@ red sky - more materials research for me I guess!

delrin/acetal is a very dense plastic and is quite easy to machine.
