i dont suppose any of you guys would know how to get an mobile athlon 2400 running at its normal speeds in an msi K7N2GM-L motherboard? I bought this board because the manual claimed you could use their fuzzy logic application to adjust all the cpu settings, but you cant. So the best i could get the cpu running at was 1.2ghz if i put the fsb at 200. Theres nothing in the bios to set the cpu voltage or multiplier. I was thinking of trying the pin mod here: http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?/html/workshop/pinmod/amd_pinmod.html is there a better way? thanks
hurrah! eventually got mine today, just done first boot @ 1300 with 200fsb got 1m12s superpi dont worry i'll go a lot further than that...
I gave up on mine ... tried the pin mod, got it worked at 2.2ghz somehow instead of 1.8ghz. Tried to correct that and somehow fried the mobo, since it refused to boot after that .. no bios nothing. So i returned the board and cpu and picked up a desktop athlon. It would have been REALLY nice to get the mobile to work ... could of had a much quieter system that way. Oh yeah .. also turns out my memory was bad too. ran a memory test from MS on it and it failed. guess i was just cursed.
1m7s at 6.5x217 still disappointing... especially at 1.95V water-cooled. still, maybe it'll burn in, and i have other things to play with to make it go faster
1.5 ish seems to be the limit on any voltage/cooling with these. Its all down to FSB and ram mostly.....
i finally managed 1m 4s. not bothered about going further, this is going in my dad's PC soon anyway. still to put me joint 3rd in about 30 mins of OCing isnt bad EDIT: mem timings are 6-3-3-2.5
I was getting worried for a second or two there, but looks like my 1min 2secs is still holding strong.
Thanks for that Me mobo wont read it properly, one boot it was 1.4, the next 1.5.. its running 1.65@ 1.15ghz atm, but if the default is 1.4v then I'll run it passive, 28 idle atm, so on 1.4v it should go passive nicely....
