Just a couple of questions this evening..: I need a slimline DVD drive for my project, preferably a slot-loading model so it can be nicely integrated into my project. Anyway, could someone please reccomend preferably a SATA slimeline DVD drive, and if not a SATA one, then an IDE one with a 'decent' slim P-ATA to IDE adaptor. Secondly, I've been drawing up a custom housing for the DVD drive, and alos for a 3.5" HDD, which would be encased in a solid aluminium shell to aid cooling. Anyway, I have a vauge recolection that there is a 'do not cover' part of the HDD, so I was wondering what this part actually does, and if I do cover it with a piece of alu, about 1mm away from this hole, what will happen to the HDD? Thanks and all that....
The 'do not cover' hole is a small air valve, which allows air pressure to stay equal to 1 atomsphere, so under heat and spin up the internal air pressure dosen't damage the plates.
If you need an adapter I've got a good one sitting doing nothing. http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=148061
