I got a pioneer dvr-111d that i have burned over a hundred discs on (dvds and cds) I have been burning dvd+r's with no problems through programs like dvd decrypter but i wanted to put some avi videos on a dvd to play in my dvd player.(not convert and burn just burn like a data disc)

So when i put the dvd in it opens up a write to cd folder but under the details on the left size it says that total space and free space are both 0, but when i put in a cd it show the correct values. The firmware is up to date and the dvd i want to burn to is a hp dvd+r 16X So can anyone help me out

Are you using Windows XP? It was released in 2001 and DVD's were really new tech back then - IIRC XP has issues burning DVD's.

I suggest to use ImgBurn, it's free, google it. Just select "Burn files/folders to disc" in the main menu.

Is it possible you selected the CD-iso option instead of DVD-iso option?

Judging from your post It sounds like your using windows to burn information onto the DVD's. You should try a few troubleshooting steps to find out where the problem is, such as:

1). Try using a burning program like nero etc. to create a DVD compllation and burn it to find out if it works
    2). Try using another disc
3). Try burning something else onto the disc
4). Uninstall and reinstall the optical drive from Device manager (if none of the above works). I think DVD burners have different lasers for burning and reading, so if your dvd reads but does'nt burn, it may be time for e replacement. Hope this helps :)

Well, seems like the problem I posted about, WinXP is so old it doesn't recognise empty DVD's right. IMO you're just better off with no WinXP integrated disc burning...
