    Heya,

Ive got an old DVD drive, had it for about 4 years. Anyway its reading CDs/DVDs fine, but I bought UT3 today and when I put the disk in the drive all it does it start up and make a load of funny clicking reading noises, then does nothing and does recognise that there is anything in the drive. On about 2 out of 50 times loading the DVD its come up with the name of the CD as UT3_rc7 or something like that, but with no icon or autoloader coming up.

    Any ideas are appreciated,

does it ONLY happen with this game? Have you tried it on any other systems? (game and drive)

    Treat yourself to a new DVD-ROM drive (£10 - £12)... or a new DVD±RW (£17 - £20)

Well... you did ask for "any" ideas :naughty:

But I'm only half joking, because it really does sound as if the drive/laser has seen better days?

Probally best going with Hazardous' option before it slices up all your cds.

You could try flashing the drive to a newer firmware and perhaps running through a cd lens cleaner.

But, I too would say just get a new drive. 4 years for a dvd-anything is normally acceptable.
