I wasn't exactly sure where to post this, but im having poblems playing dvds using any program except for the ATI dvd player included in the multimedia center. When I play a dvd in windows media player, real, or cyberlink dvd all i get is sound and these staticy (is that a word?)lines going across the screen. I found a site a few weeks ago that told me to replace some driver with a different one, but can't seem to find it anymore. Anyways if anyone knows whats wrong I would love some help. -thnx
What graphics card? (assuming ATI) What OS? What drivers for graphics card? (latest CATs?) You got only 1 DVD drive? Could be the laser? Rip the VOBs to disk and play them off your harddisk - thatll rule out the drive.
It works when i play it in the ATI dvd player, im running XP professional and a 9800 pro with only one DVD drive. But when I play it in windows media for example it gets all ****** up and my computer crashes. I can rip it to my ahrd drive convert it to avi and play it fine
to play dvd's with wmp or winamp, you need a proper dvd codec installed ... the ATI one is crap ... i use the sonic cinemaster codec with zoomplayer and ffdshow for the post processing ... http://htpcnews.com/main.php?id=ffdshowdvd_1 <-- great guide for setting up dvd playing with the best quality possible ...
Dont use WMP. Just rip the vobs out, dont convert it. Failing that remove ALL your codecs that youve installed, and reinstall your DVD software. You havent installed crap like Nimo have you?
