Quick question Do most PC dvd drives care if a DVD is Pal or NTSC. So if I bought a American DVD (in NTSC) my dvd drive in Britain would play it? My guess is no, since most drives end up in America and Europe and all over the place anyway, correct?
PC DVD drives are still region protected. You usually get 5 changes (from R2 to R1 for eg) before it will lock to the last region used. There are programs that will fool the drive into thinking the correct region disc in being used or some can be flashed (i think) to break the protection altogether. Anyway here's roughly what you'll see
Yeah the R1 DVD you bought will work if you change the Region of your drive. There are meant to be firmware hacks out there that reset the reset count or make your drive region free, but I won't recommend those. Edit: PAL thingy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL#PAL_vs_NTSC. Should be okay on a PC.
use anydvd to get it region free.. ( i know it's a grey area, so i wont give out links on the forums)
