At this moment in time im using DVDFab for ripping my DVD collection to my HDD but the quality isn't that of the actual DVD.

Can anybody suggest how I can rip the rest of my DVD's at a better quality?

    thats not really enough information

do you rip it to Vob or what?

if you rip to vob hte quality is exactly the same

then you can use handbrake to shrink

You could just use dvd shrink with compression turned off! Also set dvdfab to dvd9, are u keeping menus or just chopping out the main feature?

why would you rip to AVI then convert using handbrake ???

just rip to HDD using DVD fab on DVD9 setting then using handbrake to adjust to whatever quality you want

I prefer H264 over AVI these days. Means I get hardware decoding on a my iPad 2.

For ripping I just use Handbreak. I use H264, constant quality RF of 20, and keep the original AC3/DTS audio for compatibility with my THX audio system. (I use different settings for the iOS devices)

Some say to drop the RF down to 18 or so for quality. Try it and see if you notice a difference.

DVDShrink is free, but you'll still need something like AnyDVD to remove any protection.

Use MakeMKV to rip file and then use Handbrake.

I can get quality just as good as dvd but with reduced file size.

I use DVDFab to rip the DVDs/Blu Rays and DIVX Plus Converter to to change to DIVX for the PS3, and I'm doing rips within DVDFab fpr iTunes although Quicktime Pro does a good job.

How long does that process take for say an hour and 40 minute film?
