Yea it was lol. Really? £40.... how much were they when they first came out?

I wouldn't be that bothered about the contact lense thingy cause i already wear contact lenses but it would be a bit dangerous cause you'd have to have some sort of electric current passing around the lens to produce the picture.

hes probly right. VHS Lasted 20 years around about, then faded. DVDs came in much quicker and will thus die much quicker. When fluorescent technology comes out, and similar floppy disk style stuff (cased) then DVDs will be dead. It isnt a bold statement particularly, they have been around for 4/5 years already, and 10 years is a long time!

edit: blue infinity, i dont "think" they would create something with enough electric current to do damage, that really would be stupid.

Another edit, i just read up about a subscription service... Why are you assuming on MS would do one of these. Large DVD companies like play may also offer the service. Movie companies dont sell their goods throuhg one place only, its like a bottleneck, they use as many as there are to offer! However, how would movie companies feel about sending out non physical quantitys of something ? some company says "yeah, ill have 3 copies of blade runner please". Then the company sends them 1 copy, the licence for 3, and the company could easily pirate the licences ad sell millions of copies. It seems a bit flawed to me! Of course there are ways around it, but that would only increase piracy imho.

Perhaps not Microsoft themselves, but I'm willing to bet that any attempt would be affiliated with MS. If you look up palladium/tcpa, you'll see that Microsoft (with hardware manufacturers) planned to implement a digital rights management solution in both hardware and software, which could limit peoples freedom to do whatever they wish with their computer. It would be very difficult to pirate licences with such a scheme in place.

Microsoft and the recording/movie industries seem to have a future in mind where computer use is restricted to what large industries deem allowable.

As for other companies offering subscription services, I see no reason for the industries to allow this. They control the product and such a service would remove the need for extra distributors. Online, at least. If they cut out the middlemen, they will have complete control of the market (and prices) and significantly higher profits.

Well you'd have to have some sort of current running through the lens and it would be hard to regulate it, plus the fluid that is around the eye and contact lenses is mainly water so that would conduct. I think. Maybe. :worried:

well then if they cant do it safely, they wont do it will they... nobody is gonna sell somethign with a chance of causing serious injury of over 0.001%, because it would be stupid. They would fin d a way to regulate it, or not sell it.

Sepherus, if that ever happens, then people will likely go further away from home computers, thus less are sold and they make less money. They dont want this, but they also dont want people pirating stuff. I very much doubt however that computers will get tot he stage where what we see/hear is dictated by the likes of microsoft!

They sell windoze, and that could cause me a back injury from picking up the computer and attempting to throw it from a high window thanks to all the bugs in it.

really? wow... you should learn to click the "Windows Update" button. They have masses of servers dedicated to serving people "patches" for known bugs :) Honestly, if you cant even use windows right, your a bit screwed for any other OS ;)

I can use windows perfectly well actually, but it still annoys me that people are finding so many bugs in windows still. I mean, you could expect a few bugs but the sheer number of security flaws that are being exposed is riduculous.

Don't patronize me, I'm not stupid.
