Just a small update for those who been keeping up with me on dye making. Ive been working with Ice Dragon on dyeing there nano fluids and after some testing weve found it to be compatible with 99% of pre mixed fluids inc nano Fluids on the market. here are a few shots of the colours ive managed to make for the Ice dragon real nano Fluid for water cooling pcs. This last pic is to show normal premixed liquids i produce against nano fluid UV ive created as you can see normal see though premixed liquids has a much stronger glow. Ive allso tested the dyes on all known brands of premixed liquids now and we've found the only ones not comparable are alcohol based ones but using normal powder dyes can combat this as produce some really strong colours. As per normal as well guys if you would like some dyes (world wide) or premix (in the uk only) for you modded PCs just send me a pm and ill have a chat about your needs. Mick
Have you tested the performance of these dyes in an actual loop? Any 'gunking' or reaction issues presented over time? Very cool work by the way, I love the milky aesthetic.
Hi there. Gunking or what its really know as brake down isn't caused by the dye but a reaction when inhibitors are introduced into the system this alone can effect any other chemicals in the mixture. How ever yes i do long term testing in real PC loops not some fancy chemical lab .... How ever the pics above are from pre limb tests. there is a pc running the liquids at normal operating temps (a gaming rig) for long term testing. Staining will occur on the tubing as with all dye and this is to be expected. All the dyes used are tested upwards of 8 months in real PCs and are constantly monitored for reactions and effects. All the dyes are tested for fading and re activeness to UV light and normal sun light. As with all liquids used in a PC environment esp premixed liquids its recommend to change the liquids and keep the loop clean and change the liquid at least 1 time a year. The nano fluid is available direct from Ice dragon cooling but is not cheap at around $40 a bottle. that's because this is a real none fluid not a play on the word nano. . and the dyes available from the shop. were looking into importing this over to the UK and selling retail in our on-line shop.
Thanks for the quick response, and bravo. This is the first real innovation I've seen in coolant dye in some time. I look forward to experimenting with this stuff in my next build. *j
I wont go into my own test results but as far as i can see so far in comparison to our normal water cooling loops (d-water and kill coils + dyes) this is much more effective and does work quite well. There has been a over all temp improvement which to me is good enough to recommend it.
I am really loving the pastel colours, wait i feel the urge to sew and put up curtains, what is this word 'pink' coming into my mind... ARGH, im girlifing! In all seriousness i love those shades, i can see a pastel powder coat case in baby blue with a darker pastel shade of blue coolant, maybe match the internal powder coat to the shade of the coolant..
wonder if its possible to suspend a particle that is thermochromism Therefore the coolant would show its temperature around the loop until it reaches an average temperature, but as work load changes on the computer it would therefore change colour of the coolant. Scan a few years back did the 3XS Chameleon which the case was painted with reactive paint, awesome at the time, but as the case could only act to internal air temperatures it didn't really change colour all that much..
allready done it this is a vid from the past when i made some. Not the best vid in the world but was testing could change at speed. But the light wast on it to well but if you look carefully you'll see it changing colours. Not very good pics but you can see it working. was testing a pc for 6 months but found problems with the product.
it all ways makes me lol cos Blood is actually red / blue in colour. But more to the point its some thing weve been working on just not had any decent success yet.
Get it tested by established independent testers and you will be better off. They do look pretty cool though. I just wonder how it performs and what kind of mess it leaves behind. Obviously it will stain the tubing like all dyes, but that is a given. But what kind of damage will the rest of the W/C equipment suffer?
not relay mate this is mainly is for the dev of the nano fluid that is not made by me. And showing off the new colours were working on in connection with ice dragon.
The dyes have been tested by independents already and has been reviewed by a few sites. How ever the nano fluid is another matter that you would need to take up with ice dragon cooling. If im correct though he's undergone testing. The putting together of the two is still in its early stages. Im testing them in a full working system's and all so in separate bottles to test for brake down and all so fading. the long term test take me upto 8 months before i let people know how they have faired. Once weve 100% sure they will be fine then I will personally send some off for review or testers as well. For now though the pics are just to show what were upto.
