ah, just done the stupidest thing! i got fooled into using Windows own disk management because i was being cheap, not buying a proper disk partition tool. wanting to try out Linux, i deleted my old OS partition on the 500GB, and clicked extend my documents and games partition for some extra space. but after partition, it prompted me something, i clicked yes for it to get on. and now my whole of 500GB is dynamic, meaning i can't install the Linux i planned. seems like it's a one way trip. is there any other tool that allows backwards conversion? i don't have a storage device that has 400GB spare on it! i don't want to delete those data.
Am I missing something? This has instructions for both directions... Does the dynamic partition span both disks? Edit, wait, sorry: Hate to say it, but it's not looking promising...
Convert dynamic disk to basic disk I have seen a lot of people ask this question in various forums, i think the following article may help you more or less. it mainly talked about dynamic disk & basic disk and how to convert dynamic disk to basic disk, if you are interested in just view it: How to Convert dynamic disk to basic disk?
that's a major bump! since then, i've bought a bigger disk, moved data across and wiped the whole drive in order to convert it back to basic.
