Did you guys read the article at all? I'll grant you, the headline is a bit alarmist (which media outlet isn't these days?), but there's way more detail in the article itself.

We can't keep burning hydrocarbon fuels indefinitely; environmental impact notwithstanding, it's not an infinite resource - it will run out. Successive governments - whatever their colour - have kicked this can down the road for decades.

Well we did have a storage facility that held enough gas for every home for a year or two.

That got shut down due to safety reasons I think and i'm not sure anybody bothered to replace it.

The battle over who in the UK should get the power after it is "taken back" looks to turn even more complicated...

We're supposed to be "taking back control", we didn't want "Westminster taking back control and screwing over devolved governments" ;).

We'll get screwed over outside of the EU either way; so much EU development money comes into areas like Wales which voted heavily in favour of Leave. Relevant Polandball:

The only arrow in the quiver of May:
She has said so many different things that no matter the outcome she can claim she was right all along.

The strategy is to create such confusion as to what she's trying to do, that nobody can quite work out whether she is doing it badly. :p

So we're leaving the EU, but we want some things that the EU gives, but we won't be sending vast sums of money to the EU but we'll pay our fair share to the EU.

Also no border so we should totally all get together and think of a solution to having no border and, as a whole, we should get on with it.....

I wonder when the UK government will cotton on that the EMA and EBA have no provision for third country participation...

So not having read or watched anything about this speech Mrs May gave i guess it's safe to say it basically boils down to the normal cake and eat it strategy, we want all the benefits of being a member without any of the commitments.

I'm starting to wonder what these politicians marriages are like, do they expect all the benefits of being married without any of the commitments?

Not quite, she mentioned that we can't have everything that we want, but neither can the EU, but there are lots of things we do want. Which also keeps a lot of the regulations, and we should have not border in NI. So there was a little ground on the cake idea.
