Back in 2008 or 2009 I had read a paper about how it is essential to the newspapers' business model to provide the the bias required by its readership. So much that you could say that it is the readers' that formulate the news outlets' opinions and not the other way round.

It's self-fulfilling, the paper reflects the biases of it's readers/editorial staff, whose biases are in turn reinforced by what they read, which influences what they write...

The echo chamber effect is not unique to social media...

You know i think I've worked out why this thread gets accused of being an echo chamber, among other things.

It's because there's not been a single positive thing posted in support of the vote to leave, zero, zilch, zip, nada, nothing saying how leaving the EU is of benefit. You'd think some 2 years after the vote there'd be something good to come out of it that could be held up as an example of how we're going to be better off, something that shows why remoaners should get behind Brexit, something that could heal the rift between the two sides , but apparently not.

There has been plenty said. You might not chose to read it or agree with it however.

Not in this thread it hasn't, you can't debate something if there's not an opposing opinion.

Depend who your talking about when you say we.

Pretty sure I've said Brexit will reduce access to labour and push buisness to invest in more productive methods.

That seems a rather facetious remark as like i said it's only been like that because there's not been an opposing opinion.

Most likely it will lead to them shutting up shop because investment isn't going to make them more productive (picking crops springs to mind) or they'll bite the bullet and relocate so as to avoid on-going higher costs.

Buisness will adapt or new one will fill the void capitalism always happens even in communist countries its alive and well.
Picking crops can be made more productive but there is no insentive for us (my parents are farmers) to spend on new machinery when its cheaper and easier to hire from europe.

Again it all depends on who "we" is, there will be winners and losers in all of this its to simplistic to say its bad for everyone.

    From https://www.ft.com/content/ae935520-96ff-11e7-b83c-9588e51488a0

So considering that it applies to all trading even vaguely related to the EU we would have been impacted regardless of being in or out, by being in we at least had a say in the creation of the rules.

Good. It was supposed to be.

Most of it lacks credibility. We can discount the rantings of the Sun, Daily Wail or the Excess. The Telegraph has turned into a parody of itself --some of its reporting outdoes the aforementioned tabloids in pure mad.

Moreover such reporting does nothing to counter the glaringly obvious: that two years after the EU Referendum neither the government nor Brexiteers have been able to offer an alternative coherent vision or model of better economic or societal prosperity for the UK than being in the EU.

I'd love to hear it, but even the Leave supporting members on this forum who occassionally drop in to bristle at and criticise this thread have not been able to present a single benefit of Leaving.
