@Sajuuk: STOP BEING A KNOBBER FOR ONE FLAMIN' DAY WILL YOU?!

You want to participate in threads like these? You will do so without the paggro, or you won't do so at all. Christ, it was bad enough when you were contained in the Demote cesspool.

    BEHAVE.

I'm not sure calling people 'knobber' is the best way to moderate- nor do I think your intervention was required either; when people debate, they do so from opposing sides of an argument and there is a usually a clash of opinions as a result. Please explain what exactly I did wrong, besides respond to people who were clearly targeting me with their snide comments, then pretending they hadn't and insisting it was just my imagination.

Then I have to put up with someone appearing from no where and making little remarks and digs at me, and when I enquire why they've suddenly decided to turn up and join in with their buddy ( circle jerk detected... ), their response is to insist that I'm some kind of villain & how dare I have an opinion counter to theirs; we've already established that Byron C likes to pick on newbies based on our previous encounter where you also decided it was my fault that he was harassing me- it seems as though you are playing favourites and would rather blame me for other people's harassment and ganging up.

I see what kind of forum this is now, and it's little wonder so many long-time members abandoned ship, and not just to the extent that they stopped posting, no, they executed a scorched-earth tactic to destroy any evidence they had anything to do with this place. Go figure, based on what I've seen in the space of only a month or so. Like the tags say, have fun with your echo chamber and good luck to anyone who doesn't dance to the circle jerks tune.

Consider this a formal request to delete my account immediately- I have no desire to be a part of this 'community' any longer- not with such arrogant moderators and disgusting bullies hounding on whomever they please with impunity.

Now, now, everyone. I've already banned one person today for knobbishness, let's not increase that number.

Back to your usual programming of Tories Are Literally Hitler/Remoaners Are Trying to Bring Down This Great Nation. (Delete as appropriate.)

Just for the record, I've been following/contributing to this thread since page 2. Granted I haven't read every single post across all 535 pages, but... y'know...

Tbh i'm mildly surprised the mods haven't torched this thread [and the Trump/US Politics thread] already.

From what I've seen, threads in Serious tend to get a bit of leeway because it's generally understood that the whole point of Serious is to have a serious discussion; that when arguments or claims are criticised, it's the arguments that are being criticised and not the person making them. To be honest even when that line is crossed it's rare that moderators step in and lay down the law. This thread is the perfect example of that: there has been a lot of mud-slinging in a lot of directions in this thread's history.

Moderation is quite relaxed in general on bit-tech, this place tends to be far more permissive than other forums I've used. Even then it takes a lot to make @Gareth Halfacree take his News Guy hat off and put his Moderator hat on.

EDIT: Personally I'm amazed that the Demote thread has survived so long.

Indeed, I think it's a good thing that the mods don't need to swing the banhammer left right and centre...

...and given what happened to the first Demote thread. *shudder*,

Yes, like someone getting warned repeatedly about his passive aggressive attitude and how it won't fly here, but somehow never quite taking the hint. I swear, this place is normally pretty good - but of the last few user reports I've seen, the bulk were concerning Sajuuk.
If 't'were up to me, I'd have closed that thing long ago. But, again, our users are normally pretty good about knowing where the line is and not to cross it. I just stay out of there - ignorance being bliss and all. I usually stay out of Serious too, these days, but was curious to see what had caused the flurry of activity in this thread.

His other comments and attitude aside, it did seem like you were having a poke at him Byron. At least that's how I read it.

    I lol'd. Though I lol'd when Gareth said it too :p

As for us leaving, our government does seem to be trying it's hardest to screw things up, deflect and generally try to avoid the issue. You would have thought that maybe, just maybe, acting like adults to steer us through these turbulent times might have been a good idea, but it seems like that's not in fashion still. I suppose being pragmatic isn't very interesting, and as a country we seem to love gorging ourselves on drama.

I'm still wondering if this will affect my gran in any way. While I assume she was a resident since she's been here long enough, I wouldn't be surprised if the govt 'forgot', or torched the documents because we were in the EU and they were surplus to requirement.

I've plagiarised this from a reddit thread where the author transcribed a clip published on twitter from, i think, last nights look inside the American embassy and it seems the gig is up.

    - The economy is gonna tank
    - The British Government isn't interested in telling people they got it wrong
    - Worst kind of inflation
    - Brexit ends up not helping people
    - Leavers are absolutely terrified

If a diplomat in the American embassy gets it what's the chance of pulling the wool over the EU's eyes.

Fair criticism. It wasn't intended that way which is why I clarified, but this is a text-based medium so sometimes it really does come down to someone's interpretation.
