And for how long? While radioactive materials have a long shelf life (so long that it creates problems of its own), insulin and donor marrow doesn't. It's not stuff you can freeze. It's not stuff you can wave through unchecked either.

I thought the radiopharma stuff didn't have a long shelf life which was one of the [many] reasons why it couldn't be stockpiled.

TL-DR, if there isn't already a stockpile of a thing, there's probably a good reason.

Even worse, items aren't the only thing being shipped across borders, it happens with patients too:

And stockpiling kids who need heart surgery is definitely not going to work...

Correct. Our radio shipments are made to get a specific dosage at a certain time for a specific patient / treatment.

It’s not just the wait at customs, but also the maintainance of temperature for these some critical care pharma products during the wait.

A two week wait or a customs inspector turning temperature monitoring off will lead to the entire shipment being scrapped.

That’s even before a backlog builds and they start storing stuff outside / badly, or hiring more “staff”.

Some of these supply chains are in excess of 3 years end to end, so it’s not like you can “just make more”.

    Close enough.

    Interesting detail:
As BoJo said: "Nobody panic!". Should have been on the side of that red bus.

That sounds like typical conman behavior, get someone to commit to something and then make sure they can't change their mind. How more people are not suspicious of being railroaded is quiet shocking.

...except it's the brexiters themselves coming out with this ****.

Which is why they've now decided to not tell anyone what their contingency plans because 'it might turn people against brexit' and 'people may panic and never vote conservative again'....

...which tells you all you need to know about what the govt care about, and it's not you or i.

Just imagine how bad things would be if we negotiated a bad deal, we were told after all that no deal would be better than a bad deal.

Also aren't they basically admitting that lying about Brexit is preferable, that even if it's bad they should just pretend everything is fine, take a sort of nothing to see hear move along attitude.

They've now decided to not tell anyone that their cloths are on fire because 'it might turn people against having their cloths set on fire' and 'people may panic and never want to have their cloths set on fire again'. o_O

Genuinely, some govt drone said the 'no deal' preperations were meant to demonstrate how bad it would be for the EU [and only the EU].

Focus not on the fact your clothes are fire! Look over there, that one frenchman has a mild cough from the smoke.

Typical Remoaner attitude. Your clothes being on fire is actually a new cost-effective opportunity for staying warm, and the wonderful care that you'll receive on the local NHS burns unit an uplifting experience.

It's ancient wisdom - give a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day, but set fire to him and he'll be warm for the rest of his life!
