I’d also say it’s a natural progression for most old European nations.

I heard a good analogy the other day, Britain is an old mansion built long ago from a rich history.
It still looks very powerful and rich but the roof is leaking, it has dodgy electrics and it will eventually fall down if it doesn’t open itself up.

There's nothing natural about it, the 'decline' you allude to is and always was a political choice, if it was natural then we'd see a decline in all European nations, that's even if we accept that there has actually been a decline as without going through the stats I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find a single EU nation that has not seen improvements in living standards.

It's difficult to know one way or the other though as I'm still not sure what we're defining 'it' as, are we talking about living standards, GDP, the gini coefficient, employment, life expectancy, or something else.

Ah I was alluding to the share/position within the global economy rather than individuals.

For most of history Asia and the East where far more prosperous than Europe it was only due to technology and a bit of luck we where able to overtake them for a few hundred years.
It seems only natural now that Asia and later Africa will become the dominant and wealthy nations ergo by comparison Europe will be seen to be in decline given finate resources of the planet.

I see Raab C. Brexit is more than earning his salary, expenses, and healthy pension, as usual:
That's the chappie in charge of Brexit, everybody, admitting he 'hadn't quite understood' one of the key parts of post-Brexit trade.

Based on how he acts, I'm not sure he's quite understood how humans work..

Reminds me of this allegedly true record of a court room exchange:

Lawyer: "Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?"

    Witness: "No."

Lawyer: "Did you check for blood pressure?"

    Witness: "No."

Lawyer: "Did you check for breathing?"

    Witness: "No."

Lawyer: "So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?"

    Witness: "No."

Lawyer: "How can you be so sure, Doctor?"

Witness "Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar."

Lawyer: "But could the patient have still been alive nevertheless?"

Witness: "Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law somewhere."

Ladies and gentlemen, I think we have established the identity of this patient.

Corbyn has been on the leave side for ages.

That said, he does seem to confuse can't with won't... because there is actually a legal case pending trying to answer the question if the UK can just reverse triggering article 50 or not.

Doesn't that make it something like 10 or 15 ministers who've thrown a tantrum and walked off in a huff once they've realised they were sold a PUP by a bunch crooks and the Brexit boutique has a strict no returns policy.

What Anfield said, Corbyn is playing his part as the useful idiot.

The far right within the Conservative party only ever wanted a hard Brexit so they could finish the job of assets stripping the country and the far left in Labour has been cheering them on from the sidelines because they're so dumb they actually believe the EU prevents them from turning the county into a supposed socialist utopia.
