Back Brexit, then bugger off when they finally realise the grass on the other side of the fence is brown.

The article says "Before he left for Monaco, Ratcliffe was the UK’s third-highest individual taxpayer, paying £110m to the exchequer in 2017-18, according to the Sunday Times tax list."

Pretty sure that's low compared to what he should've paid.

But I apologise for my sarcasm not coming through in my post. I'll make sure to highlight sarcastic posts in the future with a clear label, i.e. '/s' at the end of the post.

Don't be, I'm just a grumpy old German who sometimes fails to deliver his points as clearly as he should. No harm, no foul.

    Incomplete headline re Swizterland.

Ending free movement would have nuked their entire relationship with the EU as the hundreds of small agreements they have are connected by a guillotine clause.

IIRC didn't they vote in favour of ending FoM the last time until that was pointed out at which point they went 'on second thoughts... maybe not...'

Yeah the Swiss courts overturned a referendum on taxation IIRC as they judged that people hadn't been given enough, or misleading, information on which to make a voting choice.

Ha, call that democracy?!?!! Surely you just ask an ambiguous question and steamroll through no matter what.

They voted in favour by a small margin and a compromise deal was worked out (tldr: Swiss employers must prioritise Swiss citizens over EU citizens when presented with two job applicants of equal quality, this is instead of having an actual limit on the number EU workers). This referendum was on whether or not to carry on with that compromise deal or take the original referendum result as an absolute.

Obviously they went with options A, because only an idiot would enact the most extreme outcome possible on a roughly 50/50 result.

Yep, the compromise implemented after the previous one was pretty much the Cameron "remain with tweaks" option of "don't drop the fridge on your feet, just trim your toe nails like a normal person instead".
And they where intelligent enough to accept that a fridge dropping on your foot really hurts and voted to keep the compromise.

While here we elected a PM who loves to hide in the fridge to make it heavier so it hurts even more when dropped on the proverbial feet.
