The EU will just keep the door open while the UK crashes out into the WTO. A few months of that may concentrate UK government's minds a bit.

Doubt it, they're probably just happy following JRM's daddy's handbook on how to ravage a society and make lots of cash.

Even though Boris et al insist no deal is totes amazeballs and nothing to fear...

Interesting that, like the EU, he doesn't seem to want the credit/blame for ending negotiations.

Delaying things to the last second can have consequences? Who woulda thunk it?

Be interesting to see the details, if there are any.

Wonder, if there is one, whether the frothing mouthed Brextremists will vote for it.

It'll probably be the exact same thing the EU have been offering the entire time, possibly with some cosmetic wording tweaks.

And iirc, on the 'will the ERG vote for it'... i don;t think it actually matters, there's not enough of them to derail it [as labour will most likely either vote for it or abstain], and iirc it doesn't actually have to go to vote on the uk side [which is how the ERG wanted it].

Oh no doubt, he has form in later presenting what was always on the table as his great idea.

I only have any modicum of faith in a deal because the EU are involved, not because of the charlatans in government.

Yeah, wasn't sure if the numbers could be that a deal would only get through if Labour got behind it if ERG and some others abstained. Dunno. Further down the line they could then say "oh we got a deal but Labour made it happen, not us, everything's their fault obvs"

And that's why i think they'll mostly abstain on it. They're not endorsing it by voting for it, nor are they inviting no deal by voting it down.

Worth pointing out the UK side of things buggers off for the holidays tomorrow.

At this moment in time, there can't be a deal...

Parly is closed til january, has no provision to pass the bill remotely, and even if Soft Walter recalls parliament, they can't travel to do it in person bc of covid restrictions [not without undermining them further].
The EP have also said they won't even consider voting on it this side of xmas.

So No deal is happening. It's now just a matter of how long for.
