I can't find anything online to corroborate this but I'm sure that when I started playing Counter-Strike there were fewer weapons than in 1.4, things like the P228, UMP-45 and possibly even the TMP? I remember bunny-hopping being removed so as a minimum I was playing 1.2 but possibly earlier, I doubt I was playing an Alpha build. I know the Galil was added later (plus some counterpart probably, the Famas?), but I'm talking about the earlier builds, do I misremember? Can anyone confirm or deny?
Yeh they definitely added more weapons as it went on. As far as I remember it was (CT Vs T): Pistols: USP vs GLOCK (with DE available to both) Smg: MP5 vs Mac 10 Can't remember shotguns, I always had spas12 skin on them anyway. ARs: M4 and aug Vs ak and sig 552 Snipers: Scout Vs AWM (massive disadvantage for CT, but Glock was way weaker than usp. Was always excited to pick up an awm when on CT. Semi-auto marksman H&k PS1 Vs SIG 550 (I think these weren't in the original original, but some of the first to be added, along with tmp, p90and fn57) I think we played from about 0.6-1.6, when source came out I hadn't played it for a while.
There seems to be far more weapons than I remember there being. Ah the good old days of getting *glocked by sturmbot from across the other side of the map
best counter strike was during the beta phase. i dunno why alot of folks i played with stopped playing it once it got past 1.0 there is a decent steam beta collection round up on steam i am sure its missing a few things. like the net code change valve put in around beta 6 from memory https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2940093421
