Psht, silly little five pointers... Congrats on surviving it. They can be pretty freaky - the one linked above didn't scare me much, but there was an aftershock the following night - I woke up because my bed was shaking, just a little. That scared the crap out of me - for months afterwards I'd start sweating any time someone bounced their knee during a meeting.
Wow, you guys must not get many earthquakes. And holy crap, it seems like every member here is from the UK.
According to The Register, The British Geological Survey do NOT provide real-time updates to their website. Instead, The Register recommends a European quake tracker that uses Google Maps, and had the info online within 10 mins of the quake. URL here.
Definitely felt it down here in Camberley. Bed, shelves, etc shaking like buggery. I've been in a few quakes, including a 6.8 in Taiwan, but that's the first I've *ever* felt.
"If this bed's a rockin, don't come a knockin... it's only an earthquake, silly!" I was asleep so didn't know anything about it until this morning's news
I am in Lincoln..Proper freaked me out - wardrobe doors shaking woke me up..I didn't have a clue what was going on at first...Very strange experience..Took ages for me to get back to sleep - was having major adrenalin overload and goosebump shivers...weird...
Bah at being up in edinburgh, but I did feel the one about 7 years ago that hit in derby! It was, awesome!
Im with you- everytime a car/truck went past i thought it was another one! There was an aftershock at 4am aswell, only a 1.8 tho and i was asleep so dont know if anyone felt it. I rang my girlfriend and she was like "STFU and leave me alone".. She just called me and said sorry..haha..
I got woken up by it, was panicked a bit as I'm a very light sleeper and thought I was having a weird fit or seizure, couldn't go to sleep till about 3am.
Yeah - the earth moved for me here in Northampton. I thought my chimney had collapsed the amount of noise it made, but no damage to report what so ever. I don't know about all the animals going 'crazy' though - my cat slept through it! I have to say it was pretty freaky - and this coming from someone who was in the Maldives on Boxing Day 2004. Mind you, Just like the cat, I slept through that one.
Nothing down here in mundane old Portsmouth. Either that or I was properly asleep and just didn't notice it.
We got it pretty strong here at worksop(ish), it woke me up but what woke my brother up was my dad turning the light on after to check for damage, luckily the wasn't any.
