After the huge success that was Christmas Avatars and the fact that Eater eggs have been in the shops since the first week of January, I think we're long overdue for some Easterfication of this place. Who's with me?
Whilst I don't agree as it's Christmas avatars all year round or nothing for me, it may be an idea to post your ears as a transparent .png to make it easier for others to join in.
What the heck does bunnies & eggs have to do with nailing a crazy person to a cross & sticking him in a cave, then seeing him turn into a zombie?
It's very simple. When Jesus was nailed to the cross, he was about to have his breakfast (eggs and bacon). As he was marched through the streets to his doom, he managed to finish his bacon but couldn't manage the egg. He let this fall to the floor and his followers saw this and saw that even in death Jesus was trying to save them by feeding them. Once the cross was erected the mid afternoon Sun shone incredibly brightly behind Jesus and due to some hills behind him, blocked the Sun in such a way so that it looked like he had bunny ears. As he died, his followers took the transformation into a bunny as a sign that they should forever worship the bunny and eat eggs on this day. Time has obviously passed and this original meaning of Easter has been lost somewhat to be replaced by chocolate eggs and a less blood covered bunny. This may or may not be true. My time machine's broken and I currently lack a second flux capacitor to get it working to check the facts. I am waiting for the next lightning storm....
We only have his word for that. And as I said, time machine's broken. It could have been eggs and crumpets.
Or eggs and Olivia Wilde. Now, how to add easter eggs to my avatar... Sent from my Orange San Francisco using Tapatalk
The truth is that Jesus was an american football fan from the beginning. Think about it, Jesus + 12 apostles = 1 coach, 1 assistant coach and 11 players. Back in the days, they were using ostriches eggs, firstly because they were the only birds unable to fly to escape and secondly because there is plenty of them in Israel. 2000 years later, the Americans commemorate his death by watching football on Easter Monday.
Maybe bunny ears on top of santa hat... @ TheBlackSwordsman: Wel all know JC would be in goal for that team.
I shall not be partaking in this appropriated pagan spring fertility festival. I only acknowledge Xmas for what it is as well... a holiday where a fictitious fat man cleans your chimney once a year. If we decorate our avatars every holiday on the calendar the novelty will wear off for me.
