    Hi there,

Can anyone tell me the easyest way to cut ~3mm clear plastic for Bloo Celery (in sig)?

I also need to be able to cut alu that is about 2mm in a very tight design.

    Can anyone help?

It depends on the type of plastic, but a fine-toothed jigsaw blade should do it.

    Same with the aluminium ;)

with a razorblade, a metal straight edge, a marker, and a vice.

measure\draw on the plexi, score the edge with the razer\ruler, mount the edge you want to cut in the vice so the score mark is lined up with the top of the vice, and crack it off.

that should help ya out. :dremel:

Scoring and breaking is my preferred method of cutting plexi. Make sure you leave the backing on the plexi and peel it off after it's been installed.

I cute ALOT of different grades of plastic and this is the one option I've had the most success with.

Variable speed jigsaw and a cross-cut or fast wood cut blade. With this type of tooth pattern.

Or a tablesaw with a plastic blade, if you have those...

this is 3mm plexi. very thin stuff. i dont think that a jigsaw would work. it would prolly shatter it =p

i still suggest the score\break. or use a little hacksaw with one of those blades.

dremel. at very high speed a regular cutting blade should slice it.

if you want to shell out $$$$$$$$$, look into abrasive water cutting. its PERFECT, but costs an arm and a leg.(laser cutting too)

I've cut 1/8" (3mm) acrylic without it shattering.

a fine metal blade on a jigsaw at high speed.

or if you can get your hands on one, a dremel would work real nice.

 beat it with the cat...might work, its worth a try

I'll try that, it's worth a try (using a jigsaw, not the cat! lol)

I could mod the cat, I have some LEDs on the way from m00ie :dremel:
