No idea why they don't take photos with the signature for additional proof, or even ask for a photo id.

I have noticed with nearly all the deliveries I've had that they hand over the parcel whilst tapping away on their PDA then ask for a signature and only then ask my surname. It would be very easy for some dishonest person to glance the signature on the parcel and sign accordingly imo.

As far as I can tell they very seldom ask for a surname at all, and it's usually almost impossible to scrawl anything resembling an actual signature on the tiny ridiculously insensitive electronic pad.

It's definitely open to abuse, albeit largely only opportunistically so it should be fairly rare.

So the outcome of this is I can't have my money back essentially. None of the stuff I sent (work roster, my signature etc) made any difference as they have a tracking number "proving" it was delivered to me. The best they can do is ask the seller to raise a case with Royal Mail who will then take a few months to investigate.

Not a happy bunny, but at least it wasn't something really expensive :sigh:

With eBay, if a item is lost in the post and they havent got insurance on the item to cover it then that is the sellers problem isn't it?

Think I have a lost GPU sent by signed for :(

Hold the seller in breach of contract, the problem with ebay is that they are above statutory law and they have their own, if you've got the sellers address it's worth firing off a letter in the post by recorded delivery or any form of proof of postage.

ebay are crooks and I stopped using it to sell stuff ages ago with their fee's for postage etc.

What was the value of the GPU? You get £50 compensation using normal signed for, but higher than that and it's Special Delivery or a commercial carrier only.

Noiz, it's still worth a try going to your neighbours. I live in a Close and my "next door neighbour", who's house is tucked away in the corner, keeps my parcels if he signs for them and doesn't bring them round or tell me he has them. I only ever know he's got them if I contact the courier to ask if/where they were left. Frankly I'd rather he didn't bother signing for them in the first place. One he had for 3 weeks :sigh:

Why have you not contacted the police yet? Surely its the obvious answer.

"Dear mr policeman. Someone has claimed to be me and signed for my post which is fraud."

"Oh no Mr Noise, we will look into it, here's a crime report number for you while we wait."

    "Thanks Mr Policeman."

"Ring ring, hello Mr Paypal, please see my crime report number, please can I have my money back while the police sort this?"

"Of course, why didn't you say you had the police involved earlier, we thought you we just another scamming *******"

Yes. Speak with the Police. (Not the band fronted by Gordon Sumner, the law enforcement organisation). A crime reference number will likely make all the difference with PayPal!

PS I hate eBay too at the moment. Bah.

Wonder is the postie signed it and left it outside then someone nicked it, shame anyway.

I had a flash key delivered from Dabs in a huge box and the postman left it outside my flat door, it was there all day only discovered it when I went out that evening, lol.

Lucky really as we get a lot of people coming and going.

on no less than three occasions i've had parcels "delivered" by parcelfarce that have never turned up.

upon calling Royal mail, and starting an investigation, it turns out that the parcel was actually at my local sorting office, and that they "couldn't find my address". which is bollocks.. as you can SEE my house from the sorting office..

call royal mail customer service on 03457 740 740 . start an investigation.

tell ebay CS that you've done this, and will be contacting the police.

Call your credit card company, and do the same (or your bank)

Also contact pay-pal if you paid through them.

pay-pal have to honour complaints from the payer's p.o.v (to operate in the uk) .

but you're all right. parcel Farce's track-trace system is a total joke.
    (but still better than city-link)
