Basically, I'm a very inexperienced eBayer. I'm more of a window shopper in regards the auction site with only a few small dabblings here and there with buying SNES games. However on Sunday night, I went for a 'Buy It Now' option to secure an iPod Mini. Now, my seller has a decent feedback rating of 42, one minor piece of negative feedback, and all other details in regards the sale seemed to be in order [I've made a point of swatting up on the things to watch out for and how to protect myself]. However, as I parted with a fairly decent amount of money for the iPod over Paypal, I am feeling a rather unpleasant sense of (probably) unfounded paranoia. So here's my question for veteran eBayers out there: What sort of thing should I expect from such a transaction, in regards receptiveness of the seller to enquiries post-sale, promptness of delivery, and general quality of communication? I emailed the seller early yesterday as I had not recieved any indication of the timeframe for delivery/dispatch other than 'ASAP' post-Paypal payment. The sale page claimed that the iPod was ready for immediate dispatch so would that be a fairly sufficient amount of imformation to give a buyer post-sale? As yet I have had no reply to my email, and as you can imagine with so little experience with eBay all sorts of bad thoughts are running through my head. Having said that, the transaction only went through midnight on Sunday [it's 8pm tuesday now]. Am I being overly nervous and unreasonable? When do I start to sound like a pushy sod via emailed enquiries? Any tips for me at this post-sale stage? I'd really appreciate any advice and help on this as my nerves are pretty frayed to say the least. [Apologies to the mods: posted in the wrong General Discussion forum! Sorry!] Moved to GD
i have had a few sales where the seller will not speak to me. if you havent got your ipod in about a 4 days contact the seller again. after 7 days contact your seller informing him you will inform ebay about non recipt of the goods. 8 days activate buyer protection (papal thing) and contact ebay. if in 90 days you havent got it i think ebay will refund yoru money and debit the sellers card they have on reccord. i woudlent fre to much it took me a week to get my new brakes fro my bike off ebay. won auction saturday payment sent sunday recived monday braked shipped wednesday RM special delivery.
Like warrmr said, you may not get a response from the seller. Since it has only been about two days since the sale was made I wouldn't worry too much. If you don't hear anything saying the item has been shipped within a week, I'd make it a point to email the seller and politely ask what the status is on the shipping of the item. I've made numerous purchases where I didn't get a single email from the seller. I paid for the item, the item came in and I left positive feedback then received a feedback. I emailed the seller(s) a few times durring the whole process and never got any responses. I personally don't like that kind of dealing. I always prefer to hear something, bad or good, from the seller. Like I said though don't worry too much....... yet...
the advice above is good,. I sell loads of stuff on ebay and sometimes i admit im sometimes abit lazy and people email me wanting to know where stuff is, i have never had any bad feedback becuase i always keep in contact but usually take a while to get my ___ in gear and send the stuff My mate on the other hand bought a laptop and wired the money, "DOH" £1500 and no trace.. I told him not to do it, but in the words of bender "Learning is fun"
Ok I copied the actions of someone who emailed be asking about someone I'd previous bought SNES games off, and emailed previous clients of the eBay seller I am involved with. They all came back with positive remarks, and two of them admitted to having their emails ignored by the seller too but the item arriving quite quickly anyway. Thanks guys for the reassurances, it's been most welcome.
Followed your advice mate, and sent the seller an email again after 4days (today). I hinted subtley that I was concerned and that if I didn't hear back, I would consider taking the matter further. And what do you know? I got a reply with minutes giving me exact details of dispatch and expected delivery. Nice one! Thanks again.
Can i just ask who was the seller and how much it cost, unless i missed that :S my gf wants one, im happy with my 3rd gen 'doc
