I really do like Skype so I hope that eBay dosn't mess with it too much. I even use the SkypeOut service for calls since it is quite cheap.

I don't think they will lower the prices any time soon if anything they may add a charge for the service.

I just can't get rid of the Austin Powers image from my mind...
...do you think their first offer was for...one meellion dollars...

Can't see why Skype would be of benefit to eBay - spaypal was a logical purchase, as it actually enhanced eBay's offerings...but I just can't get my head around the reasoning behind buying Skype.

Unless, of course, they're going for world domination...mwahahahah

Baaaah! Flibblebot, you are to send me your only copies of the Austin Powers DVDs, just like Wil...I have to take your toys away! :)

I'm in agreement, though, that I'm not sure what this is adding to ebay...it's not a logical acquisition, unless ebay intend to not care nearly as much about their auctions anymore because they're too busy trying to generate revenue from skype.

It worries me when a company goes so far out of its way to pick up something VERY unrelated to its general business practice. Either they have something up their sleeve, or they're getting greedy.

Spending 2.5 billion or so on this... how long will it take to return the money if the service is free, "forever"? Don't think ebay are gonna be raking in billions in advertising fees. :eyebrow:

Yeah, but what would they call the company?

    eBoogle?
    Goobay?
    eBagle?
eGay (hmmm...probably not that one, people might get the wrong idea :eeek: )
