3D graphics-optimised motherboard with multi-core CPU backbone lures enthusiasts, extreme gamers and digital media lovers

Milton Keynes, England, 2nd November, 2006 – Bridging the digital divide by merging Intel’s multi-core processing with NVIDIA’s advanced visual computing innovations, Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS), a leading computer hardware and notebook manufacturer, is set to release the PN1 SLI2 ATX motherboard pitched for tech savvy enthusiasts and gaming extremists. The PN1 SLI2 shows off remarkable 3D graphics performance using the flagship NVIDIA nForce® 590 SLI™ chipset, and supports the high-end Intel® Core™2 Extreme CPU.

Geared up for the intuitive Windows Vista™ Premium operating system, the RoHS compliant PN1 SLI2 blends up to 16 GB of DDR2 800 MHz system memory and dual, full-speed PCI Express® x16 slots to deliver a multi-graphics solution. The PN1 SLI2 paves 46 lanes of PCI Express® for faster, dedicated bandwidth needed by the dual-PCI Express x16, one PCI-E x4, and two PCI-E x1 slots. Packed with a high-definition 8-channel audio interface, SATA II storage with full RAID potential, and plenty of high-speed USB 2.0 ports, the PN1 SLI2 is the best choice of platform for visual computing and extreme digital entertainment.

A match made in digital heaven
The PN1 SLI2, a pioneer in ECS’ line of NVIDIA platforms, supports Intel processors in the LGA775 series including Intel® Core™2 Extreme, Intel® Core™2 Duo, Intel® Pentium® D, Intel® Pentium 4, and Intel® Celeron® D processors. Dual-core CPUs provide stable performance and deliver twice the computing capability essential in achieving multitasking efficiency and enhancing system responsiveness. Designed with a full suite of NVIDIA technologies, the PN1 SLI2 backs built-in network enhancing, storage management, and overclocking utilities.

    Unbeatable performance
Promoting the NVIDIA SLI™ (Scalable Link Interface) technology, the PN1 SLI2 puts prime 3D display performance on top via two PCI Express® x16 slots running at real-time speeds. The NVIDIA SLI™ technology dramatically increases visual computing performance by joining multiple PCI Express®-based GPUs in a single and scalable system. This innovation, coupled with SLI-certified graphics cards and recommended memory configurations, ensures rapid graphics rendering, smooth video playback, and multi-display capability.

Storage for massive digital media assets is secured with PN1 SLI2 support for up to six Serial ATA II and two parallel ATA devices. With the NVIDIA MediaShield™ Storage technology, the PN1 SLI2 affords fast data access and flexible data protection through multi-RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 5, JBOD configurations. In keeping with the demands of CPU-intensive applications, the PN1 SLI2’s Intel processors offer better performance, without extra cost. The PN1 SLI2, when tuned up to the correct CPU and memory configuration, is prepared for Windows Vista™ Premium operating system—a futuristic OS that offers an enriched 3D user interface, increased productivity, vibrant photos, high-definition videos, and realistic games.

    Built for digital entertainment
From engrossing online games to video-on-demand, the PN1 SLI2 is built for modern entertainment. The PN1 SLI2 comes with an array of I/O interfaces including high-speed USB 2.0, IEEE 1394a/b, and gigabit LAN ports that instantly connect to a universe of digital entertainment media. For wired connections, the embedded gigabit Ethernet in the MCP teams up with NVIDIA DualNet® and NVIDIA FirstPacket™ technologies to double the connection bandwidth and prioritize network traffic based on user-defined preferences, eliminating network bottlenecks and improving system efficiency even when bandwidth-heavy applications are running simultaneously. Complementing the visual competence of the PN1 SLI2 is an 8-channel, high-definition audio interface that produces realistic surround sound for a complete entertainment experience. The Realtek ALC882 codec also supports the S/PDIF port that transforms the PN1 SLI2 into a powerful, high-end audio system.

I think the price will drop very soon after launch, especially with you-know-what around the corner.
