News Eidos Montreal confirms Thief 4

Eidos Montreal has finally unveiled the not-so-secret Thief 4, promising that fans will be very happy with the game.

 

So is it Thief 4 or ThiAf?

Sod that. I'm calling it Thief 4, because I'm not an easily-led moron who'll let his memory of this great series be defiled by someone in the Eidos marketting team who thinks he's 'with it'.

Wholeheartedly seconded. Replacing letters with numbers to appear 'cool' just provides proof that a Darwin Award is required.

Basically, be like Thief or Thief 2. Don't, don't, don't be like Thief 3.

I'd buy Underworld 3, and, come to think of it, Ultima X as well.

 

Thief in modern times just will not do! Epic fail!

Even though it does not fit with the feel of the story, I've always wanted to play multiplayer Theif. Coop mode would be neat, as would competing in a level to get more loot while getting the other guy busted, as would playing some kind of deathmatch using the Theif stealth engine. Deathmatch should include plenty of NPCs, also, to keep things more difficult.

I can't wait for it, but at the same time I'm afraid that as a fan of the first ones I'll be disappointed.

 

Same here, I'm not too impressed by the Assassins Creed likeness of it. Time will tell though.

 

Well if it is set in a modern setting, I wonder if part of the game will require you to torrent a new film from the pirate bay, only to then have to try and escape the clutches of the MPAA, using nothing but a super soaker to put out light bulbs and nike Air MAX trainers to sneak around unheard?

 

Its unlikely to be called THI4F, because i've seen the thread on the eidos' thief4 forum, its huge and overwhelmingly negative. Same on the modern setting topic.

I share naokaji's fears that the game may dissapoint. I'd rather see the first two games re-released with improved graphics than play a new game that makes to many consessions to console play and as a result is too easy, like Deadly Shadows. But i'm being unfair, theres nothing to say it won't be a great game yet.

 

I can't wait for this to come out, but really hope it doesn't suck badly.

though I do agree with SmiffyDude in an extent, I played the first 2 to death and back, so playing old content with new graphics is not going to interest me at all.
