EIZO FlexScan T68 Monitor – Gaming Case Mod 2009
    PART 1 of 4

    a. Name of mod:
EIZO FlexScan T68 Monitor – Gaming Case Mod 2009

    b. Description of my case:

    Idea
When my fantastic EIZO FlexScan T68 died I felled very sorry since we already have been friends through 8 years where the EIZO FlexScan T68 monitor have given me the best pictures I ever have seen on a monitor. So I thought this should not be the end of my great EIZO so my imagination was questioned how could I still get anything out of my old monitor, even if it not could deliver any pictures anymore?

Since I like to have a PC case with my one touch I thought it could be nice to make a case mod where nearby all used hardware was visible. This was the beginning of my EIZO FlexScan T68 case mod project, where you could see the hardware I have used for my project through the acrylic glass I have build into the front of my old monitor.

very cool, have you thought about painting the inside of the case.
or putting an lcd screen in the front of the eizo (very good brand of screen)

I don’t like the idea with an LCD in front of this monitor mod.

Since my idea was to build a case mod where the hardware I have used should be visible like in these cases with window side plates.

Yes, EIZO is indeed a very good brand and also a fabulous monitor. So I had a very bad day when it was over with my EIZO FlexScan T68 Monitor. But more than 8 years with the best picture quality I have seen on a PC monitor is also well done.

It started to come some ugly electric pouches through it – when I later talked about this with a EIZO representative at CeBIT 2009 he told me that the monitor could had been saved bay some special damp cleaning in a laboratory.

He said that the electric pouches came from some dust that comes on the monitor bay time.

This was a very nice writeup/casemod. That is one CRT I wouldn't mind having.

But why the HD4550 with all that other kickass hardware?

Yes, the HD4550 is not the right Graphics Card. But there was not that much money left, so I thought that I would wait for the DX11 cards. And the HD4550 low profile could maybe be used in one upcoming suite case mod or in a HTPC.

The picture quality of the EIZO FlexScan T68 Monitor was incredibly good. T stands for tension mask with is a small mashed metal net. That gives same very good pictures and also dose that the monitor front is very flad too.

Well, i dont like the mod. Its quality but i really dont like this because it hasnt got a monitor inside. You've said that when a screen is in front of the hardware you cant see the hardware. But why dont you make some side-windows then?

If you take your hand in top of you LCD monitor and a little behind it, than you could fell all the head that comes out of it. All this head would not be nice to get inside my monitor case mod.

But with some ektra cooling it will be possible.

A side-window would bee a good idea if there comes a LCD in front.

True, but you can make the case in 2 sections (one for the LCD screen with some kind of duct and one for the mobo cpu etc etc part). The lcd section isnt gonna get very hot. Screens in my school are also in front of windows and they are very hot too; but they still work after 3 years.

This is a great bit of recycling - green star from me :)

As said above a bit of paint on the inside will do wonders and will improve the overall look and reflection of the lights.

An interesting mod, and good recycling of an old monitor. Pity about the graphics card, but as you said you were running low on money.

    Overall I rather like it.
