Im considering stealthing the cd drives.

Would it be possible to attached a switcth from the cd drive, to open the drawer, without pressing the button on the front?

As i would like a row off switches that could be used for cd drives.

And would it be possible for an activity light for the cd drive to be external from drive. As there is the normal one for the drive that flickers at the front i would like 1 next to the switch for that drive?

Any ideas or diagrams pics? on how to do this or whether anyone else has?

Other people have done it, its simply a matter of taking the drive apart, unsoldering the current button and led and adding extension wires so that a new switch and led can be placed away from the drive...

When I first read the thread "topic", I thought it said "Ejaculator button".... Am I the only one who read it like that? :eyebrow:

Yup it is simple - see the linky in my thread to my project log - theres a pic of the wire soldered to the solder points on the bottom of the drive, you don't even have to take the old button out - just simply solder over the top of the solder points that are already there. I used the audio cable from the cd drives and then just fed the wires from the switches into the audio connector - so I can take the drives out and leave the switches in place
