For all Interested; Maplin are going to be stocking EL Wire very soon, It's priced at £19.99 but I can't remember the Catalogue code and don't know the colour. I'll update this thread when I get more info.
maybe someone who works for maplin should "borrow" a whole shipment of the stuff when it comes in and hand it out to people on the forums.
Quick update: Code: L02AF Price:£19.99 Available on 12/08/02 approximately (bit less sooner than I thought)
Just spoke to CS and the EL wire is described as a "Multicoloured Pack 2 Metres" It is in Blue, Red, Yellow and Green. Now it doesn't say how long each colour is so the precise info remains to be seen.
As it is a Kit, I would assume it comes with inverter. We don't have the inverters on the system, but I'll have to confirm that.

am i the only one to see the potentiol of the sound activated one, by the looks of the pic it takes 2 phono inputs, he he he, use that headphone out on my soundcard (the line out runs to my hifi) get a converter so my headphone out becomes 2 phono plugs & have my pc or the underside of my pc al glowey if you can do that, suppose it it only worked by resistance, you could just solder a resistor to know if a speaker was attatched you could rig something up so it though a speaker was attatched now to see if i can leach the cash off my parents
