Meh. Not quite as successful as they like to make out, especially in the big cities. You know it makes sense! It is, thank you. The food is incredible here, and the pace of life in the countryside quite relaxed. I realise that we sort of live in a bubble here, but after spending 30 years living in the most deprived areas of the UK (Hull and then Sandwell) and working in the NHS, that is quite intentional! How is life for you?
Glad to hear, given your previous profession (and where you use to live) you made the right call relocating there. Sounds like a great environment. Thx for asking. Other than not enjoying food that is to French standard all is well , fixing to retire soon, can't wait to get out of the industry and spend more time with family and on various projects.
From journalist Will Hayward’s newsletter (aka blog) here: Yeah, I’d say Will’s being quite generous here… I’d say that photo has gone well past “appeared to perform a Nazi salute” and straight into “actually did perform a Nazi salute”. Plenty of people have posted dumb **** on social media, particularly when they were younger. I’ve done my fair share myself. We don’t know the circumstances of this photo - it could have been a dumb and misguided attempt at humour, I made all manner of extremely bad taste jokes in the past. But Reform are utterly hostile to any media outlet that doesn’t parrot their rhetoric, so of course they refuse to say anything when approached for comment. Not even a bland “I was young, it was stupid, I do not and never have supported Nazism or the actions of the Nazis, I regret any offence caused, et cetera, et cetera”. But no, because even offering a statement would inherently acknowledge the legitimacy of “mainstream media”, and answering questions from journalists isn’t what Reform are about. So, in the absence of an official statement, we have no choice but to go on past evidence of the actions and statements of Reform, its members, and its supporters. Reform likes to claim they’re not a racist party… but, in the same way that a pile of horseshit attracts flies, Reform certainly does seem to attract racists.
