My teenager has amassed an accumulation of electric guitars and basses. Yes, he can play them. B.C. Rich, Telecaster, Stratocaster, Gretsch, etc. Some of these are in need of chip repair and scratch fixes. The BC Rich has a ding in one of the corners that looks pretty deep.

Anyone on the forum have any experience in cosmetic repair or any good links to DIY fix-em-up websites?

I usually use nail polish to patch it up. It has the same gloss and deep colour.

Personally I don't bother - I think the dings and scratches give guitars character.

I would take it to a luthier, as they will always find a way to blend in blemishes and chips, i would seriously ****ing kill anyone who put nail polish on my tokai.

Full Respray? Just sand it all down and respray it. Best way if you want it to look as good as possible.

    Seriously?! :eyebrow:

As has been said already, guitar repairs specialists usually do a pretty damn good job of hiding these things, and 9/10 you'd never know there was a scratch there before. That said, I wouldn't worry too much unless you're really set on cosmetic perfection- blemishes often add character so just get them done if you honestly don't like the look.

Acrylics are the best option, they'll obviously chip themselves though
