For custom cables I agree Wayne. :)

    Thanks you. :)

    Thank you. :)

    Thanks mate. :)

    Thank you very much. :)

So I need a power cable splitter, 1 = 2 and needs to be short. Well let's make one.

Start with an old PSU receptacle and a new clover leaf/mickey mouse cable. Cut and strip to a minimum then solder together with another cable and we have :eeek:

Fill the gap with what else ... epoxy :duh:

after some filing adding sleeve and more epoxy and file some more

a coat of flat black :naughty:

Hope you liked another sticky play-time update.

Have a couple more cables to make. :D

All these epoxy resin cable examples convinced me to order a bunch of epoxy resin.

    Nice power splitter. :)

    Oh, I like that cable.

Would be brilliant to run a triple screen setup so the cables weren't all over the place.

Sorry Wayne another side-tracked project.
I am sure you will have fun though. ;)

    More coming right up. :D

Imagination is the limit. Thanks Lance. :)

Thank you keenan, well I have not found the piece yet. ;)

Thanks mate, so nice to have you pop by. :)

As you know I lost my mom a few weeks ago and have not really been in the playful mood. :waah: but life must go forward and she loved all my projects as all mothers do

Slowly getting back into the groove and getting this build back on track.

Let's finish up this power cable now. First we need power from the wall in a slim 90˚ connector

    plugging into

onto the other end, needing a thin connector

that plugs into what use to be a 3 prong plug

    front side

then needing a simple mounting option

    other mount is even simpler

    and connects like so

Hope to see you all soon with more. :D

Very nice. I wanted a cable like that for a project I was thinking up before. I'll have to keep it in mind, should I need it again. :thumb:

Glad you like it, but sorry I was late with the idea for you. :D

Thanks Ace, really is fun stuff to play with. :)

Finished up some metal work, now the tray arms are in good shape. :)

Interesting idea to use epoxy to seal up those cables. Looks a heck of a lot cleaner than using heatshrink :D

Can't wait to see how the rest of this mod takes shape :)

Thanks Elledan, it does have it's place for some things. :)

How about a fan mounting mod today.

Do not have room for a normal square fan, so need to move the mounting points inward.

Time to make new mounts, braze some aluminum

then cut into 4 pieces and file a shape

remove most of the corner material and slot the new mount

use some epoxy to attach to the fan and screw in from under the base

    all mounted up

I think it looks pretty good. :)

    See you again soon.

This is an amazing build, loving the hand-made nature of so much of it.

Forgive my electrical not-know-how but for that split cable, how many of those can you do before overloading/heating becomes a serious issue? Could you run the main PC plus, say, 3 screens plus speakers from a single standard input?

    Thanks Mockingbird. :)

Well this one has a 15A max cable, I will be no where near this total. I used 18AWG cable, so should be fine for 8A half the maximum rating which is given for open air cable, when encased the rating drops. Always use caution and be safe.

Totally agreed on the 'epoxy wizard' part :D Definitely an underused tool/material :)

all your wires and cables look fantastic. I should give it a try sometime, but I'm afraid of what it will look like
