Hello Guys, How would I go to work if I want to use a very nice 11.3" active TFT laptop display (Hitachi Mod No TX30D01VC1CAA) on my normal PC? I am busy with the Beanie's Vapo-Li casemod, and want to try and use this? I suppose I will need a special controller ? Where may I source something like this? Or is it not worth the effort? Any help from the fundis will be appreciated. Br, MrBean
Geeez Am i the one to say this this time? EVERYTHING U WANT TTO KNOW ABOUT LCDS!!!! BY: CHEESE [END_RANT] That should be all the help u need
Yea as tm36usa pointed out you should before asking questions, but seeing as i'm feeling nice i'll tell you this: -it's very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very hard to get a laptop screen to function well with a desktop machine -You do need a controller for the screen. -These controllers retail at about £100 so it's not worth it
Well you need a controller for all lcd's from laptops and so it's a lot of trouble on ANY lcd, so really you could just have used the thread that tm36usa suggested..
It will be a bit of a challenge, but nothing to major I guess, as I have been in Electronics for most of my life (hobby-wise anyway), so I can help myself quite ok with Scopes/DMM/Soldering Tools etc. I find Cheese's thread quite handy..... I have managed to obtain the original working laptop internals for the Hitachi LCD in question....the LCD controller is a seperate circuitbord, together with the PCMCIA controller.....Acer970 Notebook or something.... What I am going to try and do is see if I can get it powered manually, after connecting the LCD to this controller....which will be removed from the mainboard...then I will take things from there...
I will keep you guys posted, tomorrow am off for a week, some family gathering, so I won't be able to do anything, b ut I'll be back. Now where have I heard that before...ohyeah, Arnold S. Talk to you guys again soon.
Thanx, I will...couple of beers, BBQ's, etc..... But, I will be taking some electronics with to play a little.....maybe try and sort out the display.
