...usually too busy avoiding ships hovering in the entrance...but you have correctly guessed I did not read the manual. Dammit, I played the game 30 years ago, I refuse to learn new stuff.....

Is there a BT roster running?

Purge, can you confirm please? Hows all those menus in the game when played with oculus? Are all txt readable in game? I read somewhere that they will try to polish text menu to be better to read in oculus after beta 2. Can you read all in it?

By the way - I ordered OR today!!! :D

Exploring the outreaches of known space in the Beta 2 I found an outpost that orbits its planet at such a speed it's impossible to dock with the station in a lowly Sidewinder! Later found it's a bug and at normal speeds the outpost should have been stationary relative to my Sidewinder! :D

That's really excellent news that another bit tech members will have a dk2,

In other news, I approached that guy who makes the voice attack packs for elite dangerous and bought ten units and asked he come into this thread and do a run down about it, what he does, what he is going to do, tips and do a give away but he is not able to join, he is not joining to make money but to give away the voice attack packs to bit tech members.

Any mods, if you see a sign up request from the dude that makes elite dangerous voice attack packs let him in so he can give away I think he said the number will be 25 or 50,

Well that is very generous of you indeed.

I'm currently using it in Mechwarrior Online.

"Thermal vision" activates thermal vision, "Night Vision" activates Night Vision, "Show map" shows the map, and "Disable/Enable AMS" turns off and on my Anti Missile System. Its excellent!

Nice of him. I'll buy mine, though, because he deserves the money. :)

In last newsletter they say there will be an event on the 22nd November. Would that be a game launch? It says launch party...

Its the start of Gamma, and also when they are announcing the final launch date.

There is no gamma stage in software lifetime cycle last time I checked;)
Why did they call it gamma? Should it be final beta, or RC? Weird heh?:)

Yeah, usually its Alpha, Beta, RC.

I'd say the Gamma will be the feature complete version of the game, that might still have bugs etc. Pretty clever way of doing it really.

The people playing the game really are taking a huge load off the QA testers. They are able to ID bugs within the first few hours of release, and that's why Frontier are able to issue 5 hotfixes in a single week.

Nah, the blue dot was added in the very first beta. Prior to that you had to remember the numbers and what range to slow down at. It was a real pain, the new blue zones make supercruise a lot easier to manage.

How's the steering in Elite? Is it similar to Star Citizen?
To be honest I don't really "feel" it in SC. I use keyboard+mouse and it feels kinda strange, not that responsive, like driving drunk...;) Maybe I'm not used to flight sims...

No, the two are very different, and I much prefer Elite myself. It plays like an atmospheric flight sim.

I haven't tried Elite yet and will only pre-order it without beta access.
Can you say it is more responsive than SC steering?
In SC dogfighting when I move around mouse it respond 0.5 second later. FPS is fine, it's that it's slow. Aiming with it is also a pain...

From what I hear of people who have played both, steering in Elite Dangerous is much better worked out. They spent a lot of time on getting the feel of this right.

Integrating a simulation of head inertia, so that the cockpit subtly moves with the outside picture as you bank and turn was a good detail. It helps convey a sense of movement.

OK, maybe it was good idea on paper, but for me it makes aiming and pew-pewing a lot harder!:waah:
    It literally puts me off:waah:

    So it's BETA 3 tomorrow?!
    Everyone excited?:naughty:

I can't speak on the differences between the two, but have you tried using a game controller? I had much more success with an Xbox controller, then even more with a Hotas.

If all else fails, gimbled weapons*.
