InB4 Star Citizen fans complaining that "you didn't do a news post for the release of TPU 2.0, you're biased for Elite: Dangerous" and Elite Dangerous fans complaining that "it's not fair to mock (in jest) ED for only just getting a feature its predecessor had in the 90s on two floppy disks, you're biased against Elite: Dangerous."

As an aside, I still don't own SC or ED. First one to hit the PS4 gets my cash. (A Linux port would be a good alternative, but that would mean significantly upgrading my PC - which is a lot more expensive than just playing it on the console I already own...)

Meanwhile everyone sane and not couching two franchises as rivals for no particular reason find either 'sides' harping either hilarious or annoying depending on how long it goes on for.

Seriously, it's hardly impossible to enjoy both.

That is the exact same point I made in the SC thread edzieba, why are they somehow rivals? I am sure SC promoted Elite at one point.

I am also miffed about the price of the expansion of ED just as Gareth has pointed out. I will wait for a sale which may likely be before the next expansion (standalone package containing all previously released content).

That would probably be ED then, as Chris Roberts has stated there is little chance of a console port for SC.

BTW, Roberts DID back ED at the Kickstarter phase, as Braben did for SC.

    Woohoo!

This is going to be quality. Apparently you can land on 65% of the planets. I cannot WAIT to play this in VR again the new year. Some of the screenshots coming out of the subreddit are incredible.

Now we just need more content to make it feel a bit more involved.

It seems the "Lifetime Expansion Pass" I bought during the Beta phase just paid for itself.
Horizons loads for me, without extra purchase.

I gave up trying to understand what is going on with either/both of them, especially ED. All the bitching I read about them just makes me believe that their respective universes will be full of people I wish to avoid and so the game will be of little fun to me regardless of how good... or bad they may be.

Friend of mine has had access to the beta for a while.

This requirement is not... what they were going for with "Horizons".

And even then (IIRC) the 2nd disk just had savegames on it :) How things have changed.

Well, I don't know about SC, but E:D has a single player component and that's precisely where every minute of my gametime resides.

In ED you have a galaxy of 400 billion systems. Plenty of space for those who need some space. :)
