    From The Inquirer:

LAST NIGHT we received an email purporting to be from Barclays' online banking service entitled 'Security Server Update'.
The email read "Dear Valued Customer, Our new security system will help you to avoid frequently fraud transactions and to keep your investments in safety." It then invited the reader to "reactivate your account."

When you click on the hyperlink, instead of taking you directly to Barclays UK online site it actually points at this address '63.246.157.5'.

Fortunately, we didn't follow the link.

This kind of scam is getting to be quite a big problem in terms of security. It's very easy for someone to set it up and a lot of inexperienced users won't notice the fact that it's not on the real website.

I got a similar email a while ago supposedly from Ebay. I got in contact with them and gave them all the information I had and I believe they're working with the police to track the culprit down. So if you get anything similar then report it. It's a cheap scam and people don't deserve to get away with it.
