    Another study reveals the startling truth that anybody in an office environment could have told you years ago - Email damages your IQ (And non more so than email from the upper echelons of the company). This from elReg:

    Modern technology depletes human cognitive abilities more rapidly than drugs, according to a psychiatric study conducted at King's College, London. And the curse of 'messaging' is to blame.

    Email users suffered a 10 per cent drop in IQ scores, more than twice the fall recorded by marijuana users, in a clinical trial of over a thousand participants. Doziness, lethargy and an inability to focus are classic characteristics of a spliffhead, but email users exhibited these particular symptoms to a "startling" degree, according to Dr Glenn Wilson.

    The deterioration in mental capacity was the direct result of the trialists' addiction to technology, researchers discovered.    ​

    So it has the same effect as the wicked weed... Cheaper for sure, and legal - but I'm sure those 'that do' would rather light up than read the latest management drival... ;)

    Does it top up? So, if you smoke weed, AND check alota e-mail, does your IQ fall by 15 on average?

    I curse those who would find this justification to smoke drugs.

    Uh, some strange statistic. The article says the study shows that kids who use PCs have a lower IQ. Then it says that the study focused soley on messenging. Then it says that kids who use email have lower IQ. Could they be any more vague? Maybe I just don't understand the literary style of the article but it would be nice if just for once reports said what needs to be said! Do they mean email, instant message or general PC users? How does this study show that those things have any direct effect on IQ? Who's to say it's not simply because kids are wasting their time on the net? I just don't see what they are trying to say at all... :grr:

    I attribute this to not using the service itself but the fact that modern kids are becoming increasingly lazy do to the fact of the convenice. Also that email is replacing calling people in some instances hense equals the TXT talk and degrades writing ablity
