"Oh jeeze, I hope that was a joke!"

Well I can't say it was a joke because it wasn't funny :worried:

    "fatal error: funny not found"

It wasn't supposed to be, I just wanted to get my point across. I think sitting whole day on PC playing video games and instant messaging with weird friends might result in decrease of one's IQ, however reading an email once or twice a day?! Comon, imagine how much your IQ should decrease once you're student in 12th grade and you get 15 pounds of college junkmail (regular, not email). Many of those college letters have some information you need thus you are sometimes forced to read those letters. I do not take for granted a word from those scientists since they do not explain their experiment. I could go around taking a survey of IQ scores plus a question asking DO YOU READ EMAILS? IF YES HOW OFTEN? And then generalize the results and make a statement like the one in the article.

Modern technology is killing the english language. Abbreviations are alright in text messages where space really is money, and IM programs encourage it as well to increase the conversation speed - but why in the hell does it then slip into email? Email is just that, electronic mail - not a bloody text message. If I recieve an email I want to be able to read the thing as I would a letter, without having to decode textish in my head. No excuse at all...

I wonder if people would have scored higher if the IQ tests were administered via IM, using the same abbreviations that the IM users use?
