Never thought id be asking this, but i just got new surround sound speakers and I have 3 plugs that have to go into my computer. These plugs are black, green, and yellow. I know that these are supposed to go in the colored slots on my computer, but my sound card is all silver ont he outside, so there are no colors. Does anyone know how i would go about getiing my speakers to work?

uhh, no software, and i belive that there are thousands of possible ways they could go in. Plus all manual said was "put them in the color coded ports"

There are only 6 ways if all 3 plugs must be completely plugged into their sockets.

Green is usually front/speaker, Black is usually Rear/LineOut, and Orange/Yellow is center

Just plug them in as state above, test your surroundsound with your soundcard drivers, then if the speaker position is backward of what you've testing in the drivers swap the green and black connections on the soundcard.

I'll be amazed if there aren't stamped-on symbols for each socket.

there are stamped-on symbols but i cant make sense of the majority of them. I know one 4 mircrofone, ones firewire, but the others all look alike and kinda depict a central point w/ sound waves coming out in all directions. Only difference is betweent them is on the one farthest to right there nothing under the symbol, and going from that plug to the left theres a -1, -2 and -3 (if u look at the card from the side) beneath the symbols respectively. Could this help?

    6 Channel sound card

This may be a stupid question:

Have you actually got a 6 channel sound card? Nearly everyone has colour coding. If you are tyring to use the mic input and line in as outputs you need a compatable MB and some software on the pc to tell it that that's what you are trying to do.

    Suggestion

Did you ever think of looking at the instructions. If you bought them new they should come with instructions. Anyway, if not there should be little pictures on the sound card. Plug in the main part of the speakers in that slot. See if they work, if not well TRIAL AND ERROR works too.
