Whats the diffrence between 3.5" and 5.25" drive bay? Is it the depth? Reason im asking is because i wanna add a card reader to my computer and its listed as 3.5". So will it sit flush in the front of my computer bay like the disk drive does?
Width really, but 3.5s generally aren't as deep. 5.25" bays are for CD drives, 3.5" for floppy if that makes sense?
It might do. I have a card reader in my new and old PCs. In the new one it sits flush, in the old one is sits about 1cm proud. The 5.25 bays are wider at least, for optical drives etc. I'm not sure about depth though.
3.5" are for floppy drives, hard drives, and 99% of card readers 5.25" are for (most) fan controllers and cd/dvd drives. Its just the width of the bay.
Think i need one of these http://www.scan.co.uk/products/silverstone-bay-device-525-to-35-plus-2x-25-converter-bay-black
If you look at the above picture it has 4 5.25" bays (one with a CD drive) and 2 3.5" bays (one with a floppy drive) If you have a spare 3.5" bay you can put the card reader in it, otherwise you'll have to get a converter to put it in one of the 5.25" bays. Or live with a massive gap and not actually have it fit in the slightest way
