    i couldn't delete my previous post's so i guess i better explain how stupid i am ...
    i tried to set the emprex up with a dsl modem and Ethernet switch (oh dear) how silly am i
    well if you read the guide for the emprex nsd 100 and have little knowledge of networking ...you might do the same thing in the UK
    this will not work a router is required ...now i have this little box up and running i would like to say it is lots of fun

    Thanks for the heads-up. So good I bought it twice. :geek:

    Good little bit of kit, just wish that there was more of a user/hack group for it.

    I've got an old P3 450MHz workstation I inherited from somewhere that seems like it might be a good candidate to build into something like this. Would it be possible to set up automatic scanning of downloaded files for virii, etc?

    Just schedule a run of clamd with cron. This is how I did it, worked perfect.

    I have made a new flash image for this emprex nsd-100 that gives you a root telnet access from boot without faffing about with samba shares . Also it will run a script at boot from the hard disc. Thus you can make it run anysoftware you like when it boots. I have an etch debian buil bolted on the side at the moment that starts up my SSH daemon , and lighttpd , and mldonkey, and I am working on a virtual desktop as well.
